Futronic ANSI/ISO SDK is a form of API library to which application program can make function calls to generate ANSI/ISO standard fingerprint minutiae templates from captured fingerprint images.
It comes with example application program(with source code) so that developers can start to use it quickly.
ANSI/ISO SDK contains the following:
- ANSI/ISO Template Extractor: extract fingerprint minutiae template that is compliant to ANSI/INCITS 378:2004 and ISO/IEC 19794-2:2005. It generates ansi/iso template only from real time captured image using FS80/88/10
- ANSI/ISO Template Matcher: match fingerprint minutiae template that is compliant to ANSI/INCITS 378:2004 and ISO/IEC 19794-2:2005. One of the matching templates must be generated from real time captured image using FS80/88/10.
They were certified by US Government National Institute of Standards Technology (NIST) in the Minutiae Interoperability Exchange Test (MINEX). Please checkĀ http://www.nist.gov/itl/iad/ig/ominex_qpl.cfm
Why Interoperability?
Fingerprint Minutiae Interoperability is necessary for large scale government and public personal verification programs. In these programs, there is a central database that keeps millions of personal fingerprint minutiae templates in one of the standard formats mentioned above. At the time of personal verification, fingerprint is captured somewhere. The minutiae template of the same standard format is generated and then sent to the central database for verification. Interoperability enables the template generation can be done by using any compliant template extractor. This ensures h/w and s/w from various providers can work under ONE system and such flexibility is very important to large scale nationwide programs.
