The Lumidigm M-Series fingerprint sensors and modules are based on Lumidigm’s patented multispectral imaging technology and deliver industry-leading biometric performance in their class, regardless of environmental or skin conditions. The M-Series was designed for integration into a wide range of products and applications including access control terminals, point-of-sale (POS) terminals, mobile terminals, enterprise physical access terminals, logical access applications, and time and attendance terminals.
The M-Series sensors can perform the following functions: dynamic presence detection, multispectral imaging, image processing, and image output. The M-Series sensors also provide biometric matching functions including feature extraction, biometric template generation, 1:1 verification and 1:N identification. Template storage and template management functions are available aboard the sensor (M30x only) or through the interface with the host PC.
When armed, M-Series sensors scan continuously for a properly placed finger. Once a properly placed finger is detected, proprietary multispectral imaging is used to produce a high-contrast ANSI 381 image. This image can then be passed to any extraction/matching fingerprint algorithm for further processing and authentication. Lumidigm's feature extraction algorithms extract minutia and create an ANSI 378 / MINEX-compliant biometric template which in turn can be used to match against a downloaded template or set of templates. Lumidigm’s identification algorithm uses ANSI 378 templates directly so that there are no proprietary enrollments and ANSI 378 templates from any source can be used.
